Volunteering

Every day thousands of Londoners do something to make London a better place to live in. From supporting the elderly to mentoring young people and lots more.

There are volunteers from every walk of life and every corner of London - people who want to share their passion for the city and help fellow Londoners, in addition to improving their own skills and experience.

London Ambassadors welcomed visitors from all over the world during the 2012 Games, and Team London is going strong, with thousands of opportunities for Londoners.

How much does volunteering make a difference to our city? Join in with a discussion or start one of your own.

Volunteering

When I retired I wanted to volunteer to keep active, unfortunately as a young person, in my teenage years, I did some things that gave me a police record and, at 71, this still follows me today, which precludes me from volunteering for many things.

Have you volunteered before?

Volunteering

Have you volunteered before?

Do you think you would volunteer again in the future? What sort of volunteering would you find appealing?

Was the Ambassador programme your first experience of volunteering? What other types of volunteering have you taken part in?

Getting more people vounteering

Volunteering

What more can be done to get people into volunteering?

Some of you have mentioned getting time off work as an obstacle – do you think people would be more likely to volunteer if there were more flexible, short-term options available to them?

Is there a danger of exploiting Team London Ambassadors?

Volunteering

As a very proud Team London Ambassador who has enjoyed the role so far, and has seen it morphed from being part of the recent Olympic Games into a more permanent role for London, I have only one concern about it: the danger of people like myself, who are keen to give their time, being exploited b

Volunteering for London

Volunteering

The Ambassador programme has proved there's a huge appetite for volunteering in the city.

What could we mobilise volunteers for beyond the Olympics?
